
Track & Field Earns USTFCCCA 2024 All-Academic Awards

NEW ORLEANS – The University at Buffalo men's and women's track & field teams earned All-Academic honors from the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association for the 2024 NCAA Division I season. Scilla Benussi also earned All-Academic Athlete honors for her performances on the track and success in the classroom throughout the academic year.
A senior Computer Engineering major with a 3.963 grade point average, Benussi earned Second Team All-MAC honors at the 2024 MAC Outdoor Championships for her second-place finish in the women's heptathlon with a final score of 5,240. The senior also finished third in the women's javelin throw with a mark of 39.83 meters. Benussi earned Second Team All-MAC honors for the indoor season too, bringing home a silver medal at MAC Championships in the women's pentathlon with a score of 3,881.
Athletes who receive All-Academic honors from the USTFCCCA have a minimum grade point average of 3.25 while finishing inside the top 96 of their event nationwide or competing in the preliminary round of the NCAA Division I Championships. A full list of All-Academic athletes can be accessed here.
The women's track and field team earned All-Academic honors with a cumulative grade point average of 3.28. The men's track and field team earned the All-Academic award with a cumulative grade point average of 3.23.
For a team to qualify for the honor they must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. The full list of teams can be accessed here.
