
Coach Wende Qualifies For USA Track & Field Olympic Trials, Set To Compete This Friday

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo Track & Field team is proud to announce that former student-athlete and current Assistant Coach, Christina Wende, qualified for the USA Track & Field Olympic Trials in the triple jump.
Wende will compete in the preliminary round on Friday, June 21st at 9:50pm in Eugene, Oregon for her chance to represent the United States at the 2024 Olympic Games. The top 12 competitors will advance to the finals on Saturday night, scheduled for 9:20pm Eastern Standard Time.
Wende won the triple jump at the York University TFC Twilight meet in May with a mark of 13.31 meters, reaching the Olympic Trials qualifying mark of 12.80 meters. The coach's personal best mark in the event is now 13.33 meters. She ranks 20th in the triple jump heading into the Olympic Trials.

Wende sits atop the Bulls' all-time outdoor ranks for the triple jump, breaking the school's record in 2023 with a mark of 12.85 meters. The now coach was a two-time Mid-American Conference Champion as a student-athlete. Wende joined the Bulls coaching staff this past fall, specializing in horizontal jumps and making her mark on young student-athletes with the same goals and dreams. The coach is also a full-time student in the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at UB.
