
Former Track Standout Bridget Niland to be Inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame

BUFFALO, NY β Bridget Niland, a former track and cross country standout at the University at Buffalo, is going to be inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame, the organization has announced.
Niland is a 2002 inductee into the Dr. and Mrs. Edmond J. Gicewicz Family UB Athletics Hall of Fame. She broke five individual indoor and outdoor track records and was a member of two record-setting relays.
Niland won four individual East Coach Conference championships in indoor and outdoor track distance events and was also a member of two title-winning relays to help the Bulls win ECC track titles in 1992 and 1995.
In 1992, she broke UB's home course cross country record and in 1993 won the ECC individual cross country crown.
Niland has earned four degrees from UB, including a bachelor's and master's as well as a doctor of law and a doctor of philosophy.
Following her standout career on the track at UB, Niland has enjoyed a successful career in college athletics administration. She worked at the NCAA, served as athletic director at Daemen University and is currently the dean of the College of Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management at Niagara University.
The induction ceremony for the 34th class for the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame will be held on Nov. 12.
