
Bulls Shine At Geneseo's Early Season Invitational

GENESEO, N.Y. – Members of the Buffalo Track & Field team competed in Geneseo's Early Season Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The two-day meet featured several event wins and personal best marks for the Bulls.
TRACK
Gemma Galligani earned two event wins for Buffalo on Saturday. The freshman's first win came in the women's 100 meter with a personal best time of 15.11. Galligani took first place in the preliminary round too (14.86). The freshman doubled back to win her second event of the day, taking first place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:06.58.
The women's 4x100 meter team of Uma Bhattacharjee, Amber McDonald, Stephney Pryce and Alexia Jones took first place (48.43). The Bulls' relay time was three seconds shy of the school's outdoor record. The team went on to have several top-ten placements in individual events.
McDonald took first place in the women's 100 meter dash with a time of 12.47. Bhattacharjee (4th, 12.72) and Jones (9th, 12.88) also placed inside the top ten for the Bulls. In the women's 200 meter Pryce placed third (25.85) and Bhattacharjee placed fifth (26.04), putting two Buffalo runners inside the top ten. McDonald placed 13th (27.22).
Buffalo's middle-distance runners had success too. Juliette Salazar won the women's 800 meter with a time of 2:15.33. Allison Newton (3rd, 2:18.53) and Julia Singh (4th, 2:19.20) also placed inside the top five for the Bulls. Newton (4th, 4:45.87) and Salazar (6th, 4:47.48) later placed inside the top ten in the women's 1500 meter, running personal best times.
Fernando Sanchez won the men's 400 meter dash with a personal best time of 48.57. Julian Smith finished inside the top five for the Bulls too, placing fifth (50.49). Andrew Core (15th, 52.38), Connor Lehr (18th, 53.00) and Danzil Monk Jr. (19th, 53.05) also competed for Buffalo.
Smith also finished fifth in the men's 200 meter with a time of 23.13.
Noah Ruffer placed third in the men's 110 meter hurdles final with a time of 16.44. Brady Hughes also qualified for the finals, finishing fourth in the preliminary round (17.13), as Ruffer placed eighth (16.63).
Jason Colindres placed second in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 55.36. Colindres' time was a new personal record.
Gabriel Cornfield (3rd, 9:30.28) and William Marchant (4th, 9:32.88) both placed inside the top five for the men's 3000 meter steeplechase.
Bronagh Cassidy placed fifth in the women's 5000 meter with a time of 17:48.06. Anna Recktenwalt placed eighth (17:51.09), putting two Bulls inside the top ten. Chloe Freeland finished 14th with a new personal best of 18:11.42. Paris Welker (18:24.07) and Lacey Danilovitz (18:20.59) also ran personal record outdoor times.
Matt Gensel placed second in the men's 5000 meter with a time of 14:38.80. Jacob Brink finished sixth (14:48.11), putting two Bulls inside the top ten. Both Gensel and Brink ran personal best outdoor times. Sean O'Brien (12th, 15:00.67) and Chris Turner (22nd, 15:23.16) also competed for Buffalo.
FIELD
Kenneth Gulloso began the competition on a strong note Friday evening, placing third in the men's hammer throw with a mark of 47.66 meters. Gulloso's mark fell just shy of reaching the school's all-time outdoor records. Freshman Loretta White finished ninth with a mark of 41.46 meters.
Tyler Norton won the men's high jump at the Geneseo Invite with a mark of 1.91 meters. Ruffer (4th, 1.83m) and Hughes (9th, 1.73m) also placed inside the top ten for the Bulls. Adriana Ellsworth won the women's high jump too for Buffalo with a mark of 1.58 meters.
Sophomore William Trembley earned another event win for Buffalo, taking first in the men's discus throw with a mark of 47.08.
Justin Kleppel placed sixth of 34 competitors in the men's long jump with a mark of 6.23 meters.
Amari Hall placed tenth in the women's triple jump at the Geneseo Invite with a mark of 10.39 meters.

The Bulls will next compete in the University of Rochester's Alumni Invitational on April 6th.
