STEPHENVILLE, Texas – The University at Buffalo softball team (4-5, 0-0 MAC) lost to the Lafayette Leopards and the Idaho State Bengals on the second day of the Tarleton State Whataburger Invitational.
GAME 1 VS. LAFAYETTE
The Bulls fell to the Lafayette Leopards to start their second day at the Tarleton State Whataburger Invitational. Buffalo grabbed a 1-0 lead in the second inning off a Sara Kelly double scoring Tianna Williams.
Headed into the game, Alexis Lucyshyn had been lights out this season. The Leopards had their way with the fifth-year pitcher. Lafayette tied the game at one in the second inning, but the damage came in the fourth inning. The Leopards scored three in the inning to lead 4-1.
Buffalo's offense struggled on the day as they finished with just five hits. In the final inning, the Bulls were able to cut the deficit to 4-2. It was too little too late as Lafayette won the ballgame, 4-2.
GAME 2 VS. IDAHO STATE
The Bulls looked for revenge after last night's loss to the Idaho State Bengals. After two scoreless innings of action, Buffalo took a 1-0 lead in the third inning off an Abbey Nagel RBI double scoring Avelyn Van Heyst. The Bengals tied the game at one in the fourth after stealing home.
In the fifth inning with runners on first and second, Idaho State hit both runners in to lead 3-1. The Bengals then played small ball as they executed a suicide squeeze to extend their lead to 4-1. They added an insurance run on a sacrifice fly.
The Bulls couldn't add any offense as they fell to the Bengals, 5-1.
The Bulls have one game remaining for this weekend and will face the Tarleton State Texans at 12:15 p.m. ET. The game can be streamed on ESPN+.
