BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (1-0, 0-0 MAC) will host the Fredonia Blue Devils (0-0) on Friday evening at 8 p.m. The women's team will host the Buffalo State Bengals at 6 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bulls are coming off a thrilling 83-82 victory at Old Dominion in the season opener where newcomer Tyson Dunn drilled the game-winning three-pointer with just 1.3-seconds to go. With the win, the Bulls have won back-to-back road games as part of the MAC-Sun Belt Challenge. UB and Central Michigan are the only MAC teams to win both of their road games in the Challenge.
Their win at Old Dominion marked the program's first win in the state of Virginia since Dec. 6, 2005, when the Bulls beat Liberty, 66-53.
In Monday's win, Tyson Dunn recorded a double-double as he led the Bulls with 24 points, 10 assists and 6 rebounds. The last Bull to lead the team in points, rebounds and assists was Jeenathan Williams when he recorded 25 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists against Kent State on Jan. 21, 2022. Dunn's 24 points was the most in a Buffalo debut since Zid Powell's 24 points against Colgate in the 2022-23 opener.
Sophomore guard Bryson Wilson scored a career-high 15 points at Old Dominion as he finished 7-for-11 (.636) from the floor with 2 steals. Freshman Ben Michaels scored 13 points to go with his 3 steals and 2 blocks. Michaels' 13 points were the most by a freshman in their debut since CJ Massinburg's 19 points against Pitt-Bradford on Nov. 13, 2015. Junior transfer Noah Batchelor scored a career-high 10 points for the Bulls.
