Bulls Fall To Bobcats on Senior Day

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo swimming and diving team hosted the Ohio Bobcats on Saturday afternoon, celebrating seniors Kasey Keaney, Marij van der Mast and Grace Wood before the meet. The Bulls ultimately fell to the Bobcats, 175-124.
"It was a great day to honor our three seniors, Kasey, Marij and Grace" said Head Coach Andy Bashor. "I am very proud of how the team competed against Ohio. They did a great job of honoring the seniors with their efforts today."
IN THE POOL
The Bulls opened the meet with a first-place finish in the 200 medley relay, with the team of Mia Naccarella, Clarice Fisher, Alicia Wood and Nicole Aguilar combining to finish in 1:44.71.
Buffalo grabbed four more first-place finishes throughout the meet, with Naccarella taking both the 100 backstroke (55:62.8) and the 200 backstroke (2:04.18), Fisher winning the 100 butterfly (55.99) and van der Mast placing first in the 500 freestyle (4:58.46).
The Bulls also had a pair of second place finishes on Saturday, with Fisher taking second (2:05.32) and Abigail Malmstrom finishing second in the 200 backstroke (2:04.87). Kaley Ream and Aguilar added third place finishes, with Ream taking third in the 200 butterfly (2:08.73) and Aguilar completing the 100 freestyle in 53.21.
"I felt that we made improvements from last week which was a goal of ours," said Bashor. "We'll work to improve and be our best at the MAC Championships."
THE DIVING WELL
Buffalo continued their domination in the diving well on Saturday against Ohio, having seven of the top eight finishers in both 3 meter and 1 meter diving.
Marialis Kwak took first place for the Bulls in 3 meter diving with a score of 298.80. Victoria Franz followed in second (297.68), Kaylee Donovan in fourth (276.23), Sophie Meuwissen placing fifth (263.18), Mallory Hanna taking sixth (260.10), Presley Dorsett in seventh (255.68) and Maggie Meyers finishing eighth (247.35).
Franz was the first-place finisher in 1 meter diving with a score of 297.38. Kwak followed her earlier performance with a second-place finish in 1 meter (288.83), with Dorsett taking fourth this time (267.45), Meuwissen in fifth (247.80), Donovan placing sixth (241.43), Hanna finishing seventh (240.83) and Meyers in eighth (233.78).
Meyers score of 233.78 is a new personal record for the freshman in 1 meter diving.

The Bulls are back in action Friday, February 2nd, and Saturday, February 3rd, competing against Bowling Green and Toledo in a Mid-American Conference tri-meet. The action begins on Friday at 5:30pm, and on Saturday at 11am.
