BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's swimming and diving team (3-3, 3-2 MAC) will compete at the Mid-American Conference Championships starting on Wednesday, Feb. 22 and finishing on Saturday, Feb. 25. This year's championships will be hosted by Miami University at the Corwin M. Nixon Aquatic Center.
"It's a big celebration. It's kind of like our Christmas at the end of the year," said Head Coach Andy Bashor. "We get to finally open up the presents that we've been building up."
2022 MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Bulls finished in second place at the 2022 Mid-American Conference Championships in Bowling Green, Ohio with a score of 619.5 points, finishing with 14 medals (4 gold, 6 silver, 4 bronze). UB also earned three major all-conference honors, as Diving Coach Russ Dekker earned his second consecutive MAC Diving Coach of the Year honor, with Victoria Franz and Marialis Kwak winning MAC Diver of the Year and MAC Freshman Diver of the Year, respectively.
CHAMPIONSHIP PREVIEW
This will mark the program's 25th MAC Championship appearance as they look for their second MAC Championship in three years. The Bulls won their final two dual meets of the regular season to finish with a 3-2 record in conference competition.
Last season, eight Bulls earned First Team or Second Team All-MAC honors. Seven of the eight honorees returned this year, including four 2022 First Team All-MAC honorees: Toni Naccarella, Victoria Franz, Sawyer Bosley, and Katie Pollock.
The team has set eight new top-10 program times and scores this season, including a new school record in the 3-meter dive set by Victoria Franz with a score of 359.10.
