Bulls Continue Road Swing at Drexel on Saturday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team concludes its two-game road swing in Philadelphia with a contest against the Drexel Dragons on Saturday at 2pm. It's the second straight CAA opponent for the Bulls, who are looking for their first road win this season.
The game will be streamed on SNY and FloHoops with Ari Bluestein (play-by-play) and Maggie McIntyre (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on 1400 AM or on the Varsity Network with Jack Kreuzer on the call.
This is the fourth overall meeting between Buffalo and Drexel. The Dragons defeated the Bulls at Alumni Arena last season. The Bulls are 16-8 all-time against opponents from the Colonial Athletic Conference.
Buffalo saw its four-game win streak come to an end with an 83-52 loss at Stony Brook on Saturday. Redshirt senior guard Chellia Watson led UB with 17 points while freshman Alexis Davis added 10 points.
The Bulls are balanced offensively with four players averaging in double figures, led by Watson at 19.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game. Freshman Kirsten Lewis-Williams (12.3 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 2.7 apg), senior Rana Elhusseini (10.4 ppg, 3.1 apg) and sophomore Hattie Ogden (10.3 ppg, 6.1 rpg) have also made been a consistent scoring threat for UB to start the year. As a team, Buffalo leads the MAC in in scoring defense (61.7), field goal defense (.371) and scoring margin (+7.7) and is ranked in the top three in scoring offense (69.4), field goal percentage (.437), rebounds per game (37.4), rebounding defense (36.4), defensive RPG (25.7) and rebounding margin (+1.0).
The Drexel Dragons are 3-3 overall after defeating Marist 51-36 on Wednesday. The Dragons are led offensively by Laine McGurk who is averaging 11.2 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. Amaris Baker (10.5 ppg, 4.3 apg) is also averaging in double figures while Brook Mullin leads the team in assists (14) and ranks third in scoring (9.3 ppg). Drexel ranks first in the CAA in scoring defense (48.0), rebounding defense (30.5) and assist-to-turnover ratio (+1.13), while ranking in the top four in field goal defense (.364), 3FG defense (.234) and turnover margin (+2.3).
Drexel was picked to finish seventh in the CAA preseason coaches poll. They added three transfers and two freshmen to last year's squad that earned a share of the CAA Regular Season championship, finishing 13-5 in conference. It was the fourth time in six seasons the Dragons have either been outright or CAA Regular Season co-champions. The Dragons lost 2022-23 All-American Keishana Washington and Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Award semifinalist Maura Hendrixson to graduation.
