Bulls Travel to Butler to Play in Historic Hinkle Fieldhouse

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (1-7, 0-0 MAC) will travel to Indianapolis and face the Butler Bulldogs (6-2, 0-01 BIG EAST) on Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. The game can be seen on FS1, as Josh Whetzel will have the radio call on Buffalo 1520/Rochester 1280.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bulls are coming off an 80-65 loss to Big 4 rival St. Bonaventure on Saturday afternoon. On the day, Sy Chatman recorded his second double-double of the season with 20 points and 11 rebounds. He added two blocks to his season total of 13. Chatman has now scored double-digit points in all eight games this season. Jonnivius Smith recorded 14 points and six rebounds with a block and takeaway. Kanye Jones recorded back-to-back double digit scoring efforts. Zaakir Williamson scored a season-high seven points for the Bulls.
ABOUT THE SERIES
This will mark the first meeting between the Butler Bulldogs and Buffalo Bulls. This will mark the second of three teams the Bulls will play for the first time this season. The first being South Alabama on Nov. 11, with Richmond being the third on Dec. 21.
THE BULL-ETIN BOARD
The Bulls' last non-conference win in the state of Indiana was against Evansville on Nov. 15, 2012. Buffalo took the victory, 56-50.
Buffalo is 29-31 (.483) all-time against teams from Indiana. Playing teams on the road, the Bulls are 12-21 (.364) with nine of those wins against conference foe Ball State. Excluding MAC games, UB is 3-10 (.231) against non-conference opponents on the road. Their three wins are against Evansville (2) and Indiana State (1).
Sy Chatman has scored in double figures in every game for the Bulls this season. His 15.8 ppg is good for ninth in the MAC.
Jonnivius Smith leads the team with 9.3 rebounds per game, which ranks second in the MAC and 43rd in the NCAA.
During his time at Villanova, Head Coach George Halcovage III helped the Wildcats to a 16-5 (.762) record over the Butler Bulldogs.
