Bulls Battle No. 22 James Madison on Wednesday Evening

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (1-5, 0-0 MAC) will play nationally ranked James Madison (6-0, 0-0 Sun Belt) on Wednesday evening. This will mark the third consecutive season the Bulls will play a ranked team, as they played #25 UConn last season and #6 Michigan in 2021.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bulls are coming off a trip from Fort Myers, Fla. where they participated in the Gulf Coast Showcase. During the three-game tournament, Sy Chatman averaged a team-high 14.0 ppg, including a 15-point performance against eventual tournament champion Hofstra. Against Iona, he added a career-high five blocks against the Gaels. Jonnivius Smith racked up his third double-double of the season with a 12-point, 10 rebound performance against Iona.

Last season, the series between the Bulls and Dukes began with James Madison taking the victory at Alumni Arena, 97-62.
THE BULL-ETIN BOARD
This will mark the Bulls' first true road game of the 2023-24 season. Two of their next three games will be on the road as they'll travel to Indianapolis, Ind. to play Butler on Dec. 5.
This will be the first of two games the Bulls will play in the state of Virginia. On Dec. 21, Buffalo will play at Richmond for the first ever meeting between the programs.
Freshman guard Anquan Boldin Jr. has recorded at least one steal in his first six game at Buffalo. Against Hofstra in the first round of the Gulf Coast Showcase, he had a career-high three steals.
Freshman Ryan Sabol leads the team with 11 made three-pointers on the season.
Lloyd McVeigh scored his first collegiate basket in a six-point performance against Iona last Wednesday. He finished 3-for-6 from the floor.
The Bulls are 5-10 (.333) all-time against teams from Virginia. Their last road win came against Liberty on Dec. 6, 2005, in a 66-53 decision. Last season, the Bulls defeated George Mason at the Paradise Jam in the U.S. Virgin Islands, 82-74. Overall, Buffalo is 1-5 (.167) when playing in Virginia.
