Artificial Turf to be Installed at Nan Harvey Field

BUFFALO, NY – Thanks to a bequest received from the estate of Viola Diebold, a former UB physical education professor, Vice President and Director of Athletics Mark Alnutt has announced that artificial turf will be installed at Nan Harvey Field, home of the UB softball team.
Installation of artificial turf will allow the Bulls to play all their home games on campus. Due to poor drainage on the current grass field, UB was forced to play many of its games at off campus sites, especially early in the season.
The turf project has been contracted through CHA Design and Consulting Management and is expected to be completed in time for the start of the 2023 softball season.
"This is an absolute game changer for our softball program," Alnutt said. "We'll now have the ability to play our games on campus and will no longer have to find alternate locations due to unplayable field conditions. This project will greatly enhance the experience that our softball student-athletes are having here at UB. In addition, we are able to address a critical need when it comes to our athletic facilities. I am very grateful to the Viola Diebold estate for making this a reality."
