
Bulls Look To Bounce Back at Ball State on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team travels to Muncie for a clash with the Ball State Cardinals on Wednesday, February 16 at 6:30pm at Worthen Arena. It is a pivotal matchup for both teams with Buffalo sitting in second place and Ball State in fourth in the current Mid-American Conference standings.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Joel Godett (play-by-play), Lisa Blalock (color) and Hadassah Harris (sideline) announcing and can be heard on the radio on ESPN 1520 AM or on the Varsity Network with Matt Mattia on the call.
This is the 34th meeting between Buffalo and Ball State, with the Cardinals owning the 19-14 series edge. The Cardinals defeated the Bulls 72-70 at Alumni Arena on Jan. 26.
Buffalo is 16-8 overall and 10-4 in league play after seeing their five-game win streak come to an end with a 69-64 overtime loss at Northern Illinois on Saturday. Junior guard Dyaisha Fair led all scorers with 27 points to go with seven rebounds and two assists. Freshman Georgia Woolley continued her consistent play as she scored 15 points while adding eight rebounds and Summer Hemphill recorded her ninth double-double of the season with 12 points and a season-high 18 rebounds.
Fair leads the Bulls and ranks fifth in the nation in scoring at 23.0 points per game. Hemphill is averaging just under a double-double with 14.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while Woolley has scored in double figures in 18 of the last 19 games and is averaging 13.9 points per game, the best amongst all rookies in the league. Buffalo is distributing the basketball at an excellent clip, averaging 15.5 assists per game and a 1.10 assist-to-turnover ratio, both ranking in the top 45 nationally while also ranking 54th with a +3.2 turnover margin. That leads to a potent offense which ranks 26th in the nation in scoring (75.8 ppg). The Bulls are ranked 77th in the latest NET rankings. They are also ranked 23rd in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll.
Ball State enters Wednesday's contest with a 14-8 overall record and 7-5 league mark after also snapping a five-game win streak with a 64-61 loss at Kent State on Saturday. The Cardinals are led offensively by Thelma Dis Agustsdottir, who is averaging 10.9 points and 4.1 rebounds per game. Sydney Freeman (10.7 ppg, 4.0 apg) and Ally Becki (10.1 ppg, 5.9 rpg) are also averaging in double figures. Ball State currently leads the MAC and ranks ninth in the nation in three-point field goals per game (9.3) while also ranking in the top 20 in three-point field goals made (205) and attempted (617). The Cardinals lead the MAC and rank 39th nationally with a 1.11 assist to turnover ratio. Ball State is 7-2 at Worthen Arena this season.
