BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (5-6, 0-0 MAC) will host the SUNY Canton Kangaroos (2-10, 1-3 NAC) on Wednesday evening at Alumni Arena. The game will tip-off at 6 p.m. on ESPN+.
The Bulls are coming off a 96-78 loss to West Virginia on Sunday in Morgantown, W.Va. In the contest, Isaiah Adams scored a team-high 20 points while shooting 4-for-9 from beyond the arc. His four three-pointers set a career-high. LaQuill Hardnett and Adams snatched six rebounds each, with Hardett adding nine points. Freshman Isaac Jack finished with a career-high 13 points in nearly 24 minutes of action. Sophomore forward Kuluel Mading saw his first action of the season at West Virginia. Mading went 2-for-2 from the floor for four points.
This will be the second Division III program the Bulls play this season. Earlier in the month, Buffalo defeated St. John Fisher, 91-53.
SUNY Canton hasn't made their way out to Western New York in over six years. The last time the Kangaroos hopped their way here was when they played D'Youville College in November of 2016.
Quran DuBois is SUNY Canton's leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 15.9 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game. Last season, he was named to the 2022 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Second Team.
The Bulls have defended Alumni Arena well this season as they're 4-1 at home. They're also 5-0 this season when they score at least 80 points. Leading the Bulls in scoring is sophomore guard Curtis Jones.
Jones is averaging 14.9 points per game while shooting at a rate of 46.3%, good for ninth in the MAC.
In transition, the Bulls are 14th in the nation in fastbreak points, averaging 17.00 per game.
After Wednesday, the Bulls will travel to Michigan State just before the new year on Friday, Dec. 30.
