BUFFALO, NY - As part of the University at Buffalo's Contemplative Sites Program, UB Athletics unveiled a mural to mark the 50th anniversary of Title IX in front of Alumni Arena. The project was a joint initiative by the athletic department and the UB Gender Institute.
"We are honored to be selected as one of the contemplative sites on campus," said Senior Associate Athletic Director for Sports Administration D'Ann Keller. "This mural allows us to celebrate the history of our female student-athletes, coaches, and staff. The prominent location will be a constant reminder to all who enter Alumni Arena of the importance of this initiative to the University and the Western New York communities."
UB's Contemplative Sites are one-year public art installations on North and South Campuses designed to enhance our campus experience and engage our university community in contemplating key issues.
The program, launched by the Office of the Provost, showcases art that celebrates both the history and diversity of UB in spaces that provide for contemplation on issues that resonate with the campus community. The first of these installations was the Progress Pride Paths artwork in Knox Quad.
In October 2021, the Public Art Committee invited the university community to submit thematic ideas for future Contemplative Sites. Each submission required sponsorship by a recognized UB entity such as a department, office, club, association, committee, or institute. Joint submissions by multiple entities were encouraged. A UB entity can collaborate with a non-UB entity as appropriate. The submitting entity commits to organizing one educational event around the project theme during the academic year.
Nominators were asked to submit ideas that:

Her lighthearted and bright artistic explorations take shape across a variety of fine art media and surface pattern design. Cassandra's love of puzzles, pattern, photography, and nature are evident in all facets of her work. While the range of imagery is wide, themes of beauty, memory and optimism are common threads. A designer by trade she runs a creative studio helping clients with a broad range of print design services. Not too serious, but extremely driven, she approaches each project with a sense of wonder and possibility. Cassandra currently lives in beautiful Buffalo, NY with her husband, son and three cats.
