
Bulls compete against Cornell, Niagara in home opener

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's swimming and diving team (0-0, 0-0 MAC) faced off against Cornell (0-0, 0-0 Ivy League) and Niagara (0-0, 0-0 MAAC) on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena Natatorium. Due to Ivy League rules, the meet was not scored.
THE DIVING WELL
The Bulls swept both the 1-meter and 3-meter dive. Victoria Franz won the 1-meter dive with a score of 307.28, and the 3-meter dive with a score of 324.68. Marialis Kwak finished second in both events, scoring 261.15 in the 1-meter dive and 286.35 in the 3-meter dive.
THE POOL
The Bulls dominated the 200 medley relay, taking first and second. The team of Mia Naccarella, Katie Pollock, Clarice Fisher, and Toni Naccarella finished first in 1:43.33.
Karen Austin won the 400 IM with a time of 4:31.41.
The Bulls swept the 100 butterfly, with Amanda Neeb taking first place in 56.29. Sawyer Bosley finished second in 57.58 and Kaley Ream finished third in 58.24.
UB also dominated the podium in the 50 backstroke. Madison McDonough finished first with a time of 26.88, Katie Pollock placed second in 27.76, and Abigail Malmstrom finished third in 27.83.
Clarice Fisher won the 100 breaststroke in 1:05.71, and Michaela Morgus wasn't far behind, finishing second in 1:05.72.
The Bulls swept the 50 freestyle, with Toni Naccarella (23.84), Elinor Duley (24.51), and Nicole Aguilar (24.57) finishing at the top of the podium.
In the 400 freestyle relay, the team of Mia Naccarella, Alicia Wood, Lena Li, and Sawyer Bosley took first in 3:31.48.
The team of Bosley, Toni and Mia Naccarella, and Pollock finished first in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:35.61.
Austin finished first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:08.12, with Kaley Ream placing third in 5:14.69.
Additionally, UB swept the 50 butterfly and 100 IM. In the 50 butterfly, Neeb took first in 25.86. In the 100 IM, Pollock finished first in 58.49.
Toni Naccarella won the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.64, and Michaela Morgus won the 50 breaststroke in 30.04.
Bosley finished first in the 100 freestyle with a time of 52.48.
To cap off the day, the Bulls swept the 400 medley relay. The team of Mia Naccarella, Pollock, Fisher, and Duley took first in 3:48.94.
