
Bulls Travel To Toledo For Clash Between MAC’s Unbeaten Teams

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team hits the road for a pair of games, beginning with a contest at Toledo's Savage Arena on Saturday, January 22, at 2pm in a battle between the last two remaining unbeaten teams in the Mid-American Conference.
The game will be streamed on ESPN+ with Mason Lowry (play-by-play), Rhett Boyd (color) and Normandie Berl (sidelines) announcing and can be heard on the radio on ESPN 1520 AM or on the Varsity Network with Matt Mattia on the call.
Buffalo is 11-4 overall and 5-0 in league play after defeating Akron 76-59 at Alumni Arena on Wednesday night. The 5-0 start to league play is the best in program history. Junior guard Dyaisha Fair scored a game-high 20 points to go with seven rebounds and three assists. Adebola Adeyeye recorded her second double-double of the season, tying a career-high with 16 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. Loren Christie also recorded a double-double with 11 points and a season-high 13 rebounds and Georgia Woolley scored in double figures for the ninth time in 10 games with 17 points. Summer Hemphill narrowly missed out on a double-double with eight points and nine rebounds.
Fair leads the Bulls and ranks fifth in the nation in scoring at 23.5 points per game. Hemphill is averaging just under a double-double with 15.3 points and 8.5 rebounds per game while Woolley has scored in double figures in nine of the last 10 games and is averaging 10.3 points per game. Buffalo is distributing the basketball at an excellent clip, averaging 16.0 assists per game and a 1.1 assist-to-turnover ratio, both ranking in the top 50 nationally while also ranking 39th with a +4.5 turnover margin. That leads to a potent offense which ranks 19th in the nation in scoring (77.3 ppg). The Bulls are ranked 53rd in the latest NET rankings, the highest of any MAC schools. They are also ranked 14th in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll.
Winners of seven straight, Toledo enters Saturday's contest with a 13-3 overall record, including a perfect 6-0 at Savage Arena, and 7-0 league mark after defeating Ball State 58-55 on Wednesday. The Rockets are led offensively by Quinesha Lockett who is averaging 17.8 points and 5.9 rebounds per game. Sophia Wiard is also scoring in double figures with 10.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game. The Rockets lead the MAC in scoring defense (57.2) while also leading the league and ranking 17th in the nation in field goal percentage defense (34.8%). In MAC play, Toledo is outscoring opponents by an average of 12.7 points per game and holding opponents to 33.5% FG and 29.5% shooting from beyond the arc.
