
Bulls Look For Fifth Straight Win, Host Akron on Wednesday

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team looks for its fifth straight win as they host Akron on Wednesday night at Alumni Arena.
The game will be streamed on ESPN3 with Paul Peck (play-by-play) and Kevin Sylvester (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on ESPN 1520 AM or on the Varsity Network with Matt Mattia on the call.
Buffalo is 10-4 overall and 4-0 in league play after defeating Kent State 65-66 at Alumni Arena on Monday night. The Bulls are now 7-0 at home, the best stretch since UB went 12-0 at Alumni Arena in the 2017-18 season. Junior guard Dyaisha Fair scored a game-high 26 points to go with seven rebounds and five assists. Freshman Georgia Woolley scored in double figures for the eighth time in the last nine games with 14 points, including 4-of-5 shooting from behind the arc and Summer Hemphill added 11 points and six rebounds.
Fair leads the Bulls and ranks fourth in the nation in scoring at 23.8 points per game. Hemphill is averaging just under a double-double with 15.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while Woolley has scored in double figures in eight of the last nine games and is averaging 9.9 points per game. Buffalo is distributing the basketball at an excellent clip, averaging 15.8 assists per game and a 1.1 assist-to-turnover ratio, both ranking in the top 50 nationally while also ranking 33rd with a +4.8 turnover margin. That leads to a potent offense which ranks 21st in the nation in scoring (77.4 ppg). The Bulls are ranked 58th in the latest NET rankings, the highest of any MAC schools. They are also ranked 14th in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll.
Also winners of four straight, Akron enters Wednesday's contest with a 7-4 overall record and 4-1 league mark after defeating Ball State 83-76 on Saturday. The Zips are led offensively by Jordyn Dawson who is averaging 19.7 points, 8.9 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game. Robyn Bass is also near a double figure average with 9.9 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. As a team, Akron leads the MAC and ranks 15th in the NCAA in fewest turnovers (171) and are 32nd in fewest fouls (189). The Zips have connected on five or more three-pointers in nine games this season, and 39 of its last 42 contests overall.
