Kevin Marks Named to Doak Walker Preseason Watch List

DALLAS, TX – University at Buffalo running back Kevin Marks has been named to the Doak Walker Preseason Watch List, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced on Wednesday morning. This is the second straight season that Marks has been named to this watch list.
Entering his senior season, Marks rushed for 741 yards in seven games last year, averaging 106 yards per game. His 6.6 yards per carry average ranked second in school history for a single season. He scored seven touchdowns on the year en route to earning All-MAC Third Team honors. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the Camellia Bowl after rushing for 138 yards and the game-winning touchdown against Marshall.
For his career, Marks has rushed for 2,621 yards and 28 touchdowns. He ranks seventh in program history in career rushing yards and sixth in career touchdowns.
The award is named for SMU's three-time All-America running back Doak Walker. It is the only major collegiate award that requires all candidates to be in good academic standing and on schedule to graduate within one year of other students of the same classification.
The PwC SMU Athletic Forum Board of Directors will name ten semifinalists in November, and three finalists, as voted on by the Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee, will be announced in November. The committee will cast a second vote in December to determine the recipient. The National Selection Committee consists of past recipients, former NFL All-Pro and college All-America running backs, media members and selected special representatives.
The recipient of the 2020 Doak Walker Award will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards.
