
Bulls Stumble Against League-Leading Toledo, 80-70

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's basketball had its three-game winning streak snapped on Friday night as the Bulls fell to Toledo, 80-70. The loss drops the Bulls to 9-7 on the season and 7-5 in MAC play.
The Rockets used the three ball to their advantage as Toledo went 10-of-22 from long range. The Bulls led 13-12 in the first half when UB scored eight straight points as a bucket from junior Jeenathan Williams gave Buffalo a 21-12 lead with 10:22 left in the first half. The nine-point advantage was Buffalo's largest of the game.
UB continued to lead by six with 4:01 remaining when the Rockets when Toledo ended the half on a 16-2 run.
The Rockets extended their lead to 11 before the Bulls scored the next eight as a bucket from sophomore LaQuill Hardnett pulled UB back within three at 43-40.
Toledo again built its lead back up to 48-40 when the Bulls rattled off 14 straight points as two free throws from Hardnett built a 54-48 advantage for Buffalo with 10:41 remaining.
UB continued to hold a slim 59-57 lead with 5:06 left when a three pointer from Toledo's Marreon Jackson ignited a 12-0 run for the Rockets as Toledo took a 71-61 lead.
Williams led the Bulls with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Jayvon Graves finished with 11 points as did junior Ronaldo Segu, who had 11 points, six rebounds, and five assists.
Hardnett finished with nine points and Josh Mballa finished with nine points and 13 rebounds, including nine offensive rebounds.
Redshirt junior Tra'von Fagan had eight points and six rebounds.
The Bulls held a huge advantage on the glass, 53-30, including 25 offensive rebounds. However, UB had 16 turnovers, compared to just nine from Toledo.
UB is back in action on Tuesday when it begins a stretch of three games in five days with a road contest at Northern Illinois. Tip off is at 5pm ET.
