BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo men's basketball team will return to Alumni Arena for the second time this season when the Bulls face Point Park on Monday night.
UB is coming off a 2-1 performance at the Cancun Challenge, winning its campus game against Rider last Saturday and then on Wednesday the Bulls set the Cancun Challenge scoring record in a 106-90 victory over Illinois State. Senior Ronaldo Segu was named to the all-tournament team after he scored a career high 25 points against Stephen F. Austin and then followed that up with 17 points and eight assists against the Redbirds.
It was the first of a number of career performances in Mexico as Josh Mballa scored a career high 29 points against Illinois State and sophomore David Skogman score a career best 17 points as he picked up his first career start against the Redbirds.
Senior Jeenathan Williams also joined the 1,000 point club while the Bulls were in Mexico, becoming the 24th player in school history to reach that feat. He is currently tied for 21st on UB's all-time scoring list.
Point Park is 2-3 on the season and this will be the second of three Mid-American Conference opponents the Pioneers will play this year. Point Park lost at Akron on Nov. 13, 102-46. The Pioneers will play at Kent State on Tuesday night, Nov. 30.
Following Monday's home game, the Bulls will hit the road for two challenging contests beginning Saturday at nationally-ranked St. Bonaventure.
Fans heading to Monday's game will need to show proof of vaccination. A vaccination card, a photo of a vaccination card, an Excelsior Pass or a digital vaccine card are all acceptable. Attendees should be prepared to show photo ID, as well. Those without proof will be turned away. Those with an exemption also will not be allowed into the arena. Masks are required to be worn inside of Alumni Arena.
