Bulls Rally, But Fall at Kent State, 48-38

Early on it was clear Kent State was out for revenge on Buffalo after losing 70-41 last season at UB Stadium. Kent State looked in total control, scoring on nearly every possession of the first half. But, following some adjustments, the Bulls looked like a totally different team in the second half.
The Bulls came out of the locker room and scored on each of their first four drives. First, Kevin Marks, Jr. took it in from 16 yards out for his second rushing touchdown of the game. On the next drive, Kyle Vantrease connected with Jake Molinich on a 10-yard touchdown pass to quickly cut the Kent State lead to 31-24.
The Bulls tied the game on their next possession when Matt Myers went over the left end for a 4-yard touchdown run. Dylan McDuffie gave the Bulls their first lead of the game, 38-34, with a 10-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter.
Unfortunately, Kent State scored 14-unanswered points in the fourth quarter to pull away for the victory.
Buffalo rushed for 312 yards in the game, their best effort of the season. It was a balanced effort as McDuffie rushed for 87 yards, Marks rushed for 80 yards and Ron Cook, Jr. finished with 72 yards.
Vantrease threw for 229 yards in the game, connecting with 11 different receivers. Quian Williams again led the Bulls with eight catches for 86 yards. As a team, the Bulls finished with 549 yards of total offense, their most against an FBS opponent this season. UB ran a season-high 99 plays.
Defensively, the Bulls were led by Kadofi Wright and Ja'Marcus Ingram who each had 10 tackles in the game. James Patterson added nine stops.
The Bulls return home to host Ohio next Saturday at noon.
