BUFFALO, NY – Head men's basketball coach Jim Whitesell has announced the addition of Maceo Jack to the UB basketball program. Jack, who is transferring to UB from George Washington University, will join the team immediately for practice and will be eligible for competition during the 2021-22 season.
Jack played in seven games for GW this fall before deciding to transfer, where he averaged 6.9 points per game, shooting 56.7% from the floor and 40% from three point range.
Last season, he appeared in all 32 games and made 28 starts. He finished the season ranked second in the Atlantic 10 Conference in three-point field goals made (83) and averaged a career-high 11.7 points per game. Jack's best performance as a collegian came in a 4OT win against Davidson, in which he scored 35 points, including making 7-of-13 three-point field goals.
He led GW in three pointers as a sophomore in 2018-19 and saw action in 24 games as a freshman. Prior to George Washington, he spent a year at Thomas Moore School in Connecticut where he was named to the All-New England Third Team after averaging 15 points and five rebounds.
Jack played high school ball right here in Western New York at Williamsville North High School where he averaged 24 points and seven rebounds as a senior and led the team to a regular season ECIC title while earning league Player of the Year honors.
"We are very excited to add Maceo to the program," said Whitesell. "He has long been a member of the Buffalo athletics family, and on the court, we are adding an individual who can shoot the ball extremely well and he brings a lot of maturity with him having spent parts of four season at a very good Atlantic 10 program. We know he can help us immediately in practice this year and look forward to having him on the court next season."
Jack is the son of UB head women's basketball coach, Felisha Legette-Jack. Jack is the second addition to the 2021-22 roster joining incoming freshman Zaakir Williamson out of Philadelphia, PA.
