
Patterson Brothers Earn MAC Offensive and Defensive Player of the Week Awards

BUFFALO, NY – Twin brothers Jaret and James Patterson were both honored by the Mid-American Conference on Monday, earning East Division offensive and defensive player of the week honors, respectively, for their performances against Bowling Green last Tuesday night. It marked the first time in MAC history brothers were honored the same week.
Jaret was named the MAC East Division Co-Offensive Player of the Week, sharing the award with Kent State quarterback Dustin Crum. The junior running back rushed for a school-record 301 yards and added four touchdowns in Buffalo's 42-17 win at Bowling Green. Patterson carried the ball 31 times, averaging 9.7 yards per carry. He scored on touchdown runs of 17, 4, 15 and 57 yards. He added a season-long 67-yard run against the Falcons.
James, the Bulls' middle linebacker, recorded a career-high 13 tackles and added a pass breakup against the Falcons. He had a game-high eight solo tackles on the night. He led a defensive effort that held Bowling Green to only three points until the fourth quarter.
Jaret won the award for the second time this season, also gaining the honor following UB's opening game win over Northern Illinois. It is the fifth time in his career Jaret has been named MAC Offensive Player of the Week. It is the first time James has been named MAC Defensive Player of the Week.
The Bulls have had a player named MAC Offensive Player of the Week following each of their first three games of the season. Quarterback Kyle Vantrease was honored following UB's week two win over Miami (OH).
Jaret currently leads the nation in rushing, averaging 170.3 yards per game. He also has a MAC-best eight rushing touchdowns. James leads the Bulls with 17 tackles. He has added a pass breakup and a forced fumble.
The Bulls are back in action on Saturday when they host Kent State at UB Stadium. Kickoff is slated for noon.
