Finally, the UB Football home opener is here!Β After opening the season with an exciting and hard-fought win at Northern Illinois, the Bulls are set to face Miami (OH) at home, tonight on ESPN at 8pm. We are all excited to see the Bulls build upon the successes of last year with the goal of competing for a MAC Championship and participating in a third consecutive bowl game.
Although we are thrilled to have our student-athletes back on the field, we will miss seeing all of you in the stands.Β Unfortunately, per state and local guidelines, we are prohibited from having fans join us in UB Stadium this season. That being said, we've come up with a unique way for alumni, friends and fans to show their support.
As you can imagine, athletic departments across the country are facing significant financial challenges due in large part to the loss of revenue generated from having fans in the stands and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In response, on September 1, 2020, UB Athletics launched the Make it PossiBULL Campaign in support of our 390 student-athletes who choose to wear the blue and white. The Make it PossiBULL Campaign will help offset the financial shortfalls we are forecasting for the year and help safeguard our commitment to each-and-every student-athlete, to provide them with an exceptional academic and athletic experience. To be sure, contributions will allow our program to continue our upward trajectory and emerge from these challenging times stronger than ever.Β
Today, we are officially launching a seven-week fundraising initiative we are calling UB Stadium Virtual Sellout, with proceeds going directly to the Make it PossiBull Campaign. Β Through this initiative you will have an opportunity to show your continued support for our student-athletes and coaches by helping us sellout our virtual stadium.Β With a goal to sellout 30,000 virtual seats, we can demonstrate to our players how much we miss being in the stands to cheer them on, and even in our absence how much we are committed to their success.Β For every $30 donated to this initiative 15 tickets will be "sold" and counted toward our goal of 30,000.Β
"The virtual sellout of UB Stadium is another way for us to connect with our fans during these uncertain times," said athletic director Mark Alnutt.Β "We know UB Stadium will not be the same without the energy of our fan base, but we urge all of our supporters to make this small contribution so we can continue to give our student-athletes a first class experience here at Buffalo."
As always, we are grateful for your continued enthusiasm and ongoing support for our Bulls.
