
UB Student-Athletes Record Second-Highest GPA in Department History for Spring Semester

BUFFALO, NYΒ β It was another successful semester in the classroom for UB student-athletes as they posted a 3.372 grade point average for the fall semester. It was the second-highest GPA in department history.
Women's tennis claimed the top spot for the spring semester with a 3.756 team grade point average. Men's tennis led all men's teams with a 3.582 GPA. Swimming and diving and women's track and field both posted their highest grade point averages in program history with a 3.753 and 3.585, respectively.
Softball had the most improved semester from the spring, increasing their GPA by 0.200 points, followed by women's cross country (+0.115) and swimming and diving (+0.099).
Thirteen of Buffalo's 14 programs had a 3.0 grade point average or better β women's tennis (3.756), swimming and diving (3.753), women's cross country (3.642), soccer (3.595), Β women's track and field (3.585), men's tennis (3.582), softball (3.533), volleyball (3.432), wrestling (3.353), men's basketball (3.336), women's basketball (3.264), football (3.160), men's track and field (3.050), and men's cross country (2.924).Β Β
The department had 58 student-athletes with perfect 4.0 GPAs and 181 posted a 3.5 or better. In all, 279 student-athletes (80 percent) reached the 3.0 plateau.
" This semester's performance reflects a standard our student-athletes and staff have worked to build over time," Senior Associate Athletic Director for Championship Resources Aaron Stang said. Β "A 3.372 departmental GPA, second highest in program history, is significant, but what stands out more is the consistency behind it. We are seeing sustained success across multiple terms and across our entire population, with the four highest department GPAs coming in the last two years."
