
Young Bulls Cruise Past NCCC, 41-6

SANBORN, NY – Utilizing a young lineup, the University at Buffalo wrestling team cruised past Niagara County Community College, 41-6, on Friday night. In the win, Head Coach John Stutzman was able to get some important work and experience for some of his youngsters.
After dropping the opening match, the Bulls rattled off nine straight wins, including four by pin.
Jordan Reyes, wrestling at 133 for the first time this season, won a 20-6 major decision over Josh McCoy, for his second straight win.
At 141, Marcus Robinson completely dominated Matt Gawron. After totaling six takedowns and two two-point nearfalls in the first period, Robinson was able to get the pin, 24 seconds into the second period.
John Arceri followed with a 4-3 decision over Frankie Gissendanner at 149.
At 157, Chris Meloni earned his first fall as a Bull, pinning Noah Geloso with 30 seconds left in the first period.
Hunter Shaut wrested at 165 for the first time this season and won a 7-4 decision over Christian Robinson. Two first-period takedowns helped pace Shaut to the victory.
Jake Lanning held off Josh Thibeault at 174, winning a 1-0 decision.
It was a strong UB debut for Lars Shafle. Wrestling in his first career dual, Schaefle was able to pin Jordan Bushey, a former Division III All-American, early in the third period.
At 197, Sam Schuyler had little trouble with Devin Vanlengen. The redshirt-sophomore won by major decision, 15-3.
Finally, Nolan Terrance needed only 2:10 to pin Jordan Scott and win his second straight dual match.
"It was a good night," Stutzman said. "We were able to see our guys compete and as a young team, that's always good to see."
The Bulls will be back in action on Sunday will duals against both Edinboro and Gannon.
