
Bulls Notch Road Victory At Western Michigan, 5-2

KALAMAZOO, MI – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team returned to the win column on Friday afternoon as the Bulls defeated Western Michigan, 5-2. The win improves UB to 13-4 on the season and 2-1 in MAC play.
In doubles action, the Broncos came away with a win at second doubles, but then Emel Abibula and Hsin-Yuan Shih won at third doubles, 6-3. Buffalo clinched the point with a win at first doubles from the duo of Chantal Martinez Blanco and Nikoleta Antoniou-Karademitrou, who won 6-4.
Senior Sanjana Sudhir was the first to finish in singles as she came away with an easy 6-1, 6-2 win at sixth singles. After WMU got on the board with a win at first singles in straight sets, the final four matches all went three sets.
Freshman Pia Schwarz won at three, 3-6, 6-2, 6-3 to give UB a 3-1 advantage. The Broncos pulled within 3-2 following a win at second singles, but Shih clinched the match at fourth singles with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-0 victory. Abibula concluded the victory with a three-set win at fifth singles, 3-6, 7-6 (3), 7-6, (2).
The Bulls remain on the road next week as they face Ball State on Friday, followed by Northern Illinois on Sunday, April 7.
