BUFFALO, NY – In search of a second straight win, the University at Buffalo wrestling team will host #19 Missouri on Sunday afternoon at Alumni Arena. The Bulls are coming off a win at West Virginia last Sunday, their first over a Big 12 program.
The Bulls continue to be led by veterans Derek Spann at 133 and Troy Keller 165, both are 6-1 in duals on the season. However, it has been the youngsters who have stepped up for UB lately. In Buffalo's win over West Virginia, true freshman Hunter Shaut (157) pinned Alex Hornfeck just over a minute into his match. Redshirt-freshman Marcus Robinson added a major decision in the 141 bout. In last Friday's match against Cleveland State, Redshirt-freshmen Michael Petite (157) and Pete Acciardi (184), both rallied to post impressive wins.
Missouri will be a tough test as the Tigers enter the match with five wrestlers in the national rankings. Brock Mauller is ranked #2 at 149; Grant Leeth is ranked #9 at 141; Jarrett Jacques is ranked #14 at 157; Dylan Wisman and Wyatt Koelling are ranked #22 at 184 and 197, respectively.
The Bulls are looking for their first win over Missouri as the Tigers hold a 7-0 advantage in the all-times series.
Sunday's dual will start at 1 pm.
