WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team swept Binghamton on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Bearcats, 7-0 at Miller Tennis Center.
UB won all three doubles matches as Tanja Stojanovska and Anna Savchenko won at one, 6-3, while the Bulls picked up 6-2 wins at two and three. Chantal Martinez Blanco and Lolade Ogungbesan won at two, while Emel Abibula and Arianna Paules Aldrey won a three.
Five of the six singles matches were won in straight sets. Martinez Blanco won at first singles, 6-2, 6-2, while Abibula came away with a 6-4, 6-1 win at three. Junior Sanjana Sudhir won at fourth singles, 6-2, 6-3 and Paules Aldrey won at five, 6-0, 6-1. Savchenko won her match at six, 6-0, 6-3. The only match to go three sets was a two, which Ogungbesan won, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.
The Bulls return to action a week from today when they head down to Charleston, SC for Spring Break. They will first face the College of Charleston.
