Bulls Open Spring Season With 7-0 Sweep Of St. Bonaventure

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team began the spring season on a high note Friday afternoon as the Bulls rolled past St. Bonaventure, 7-0, at the Miller Tennis Center.
UB began with a strong showing in doubles as it won all three matches. Junior Chantal Martinez Blanco and senior Lolade Ogungbusen won at first doubles, 6-2, while Tanja Stojanovska and Anna Savchenko came away with a 6-4 win at two. Arianna Paules Aldrey and Mercedes Losada Rubio won at third double with a 6-0 sweep.
The Bulls won all six matches in singles in straight sets. Martinez Blanco won at first singles, 6-0, 6-2, followed by Ogungbesan, who won at two, 6-4, 6-3.
Sophomore Emel Abibula won her match at third singles, 6-1, 6-2, and Losada Rubio lost just two games total in a 6-1, 6-1, victory at four. Junior Sanjana Sudhir swept her opponent at five in dominating fashion, 6-0, 6-0, and Paules Aldrey won at six, 6-3, 6-2.
The Bulls will head on the road next weekend for a pair of matches downstate beginning on Friday afternoon at St. John's.
