BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo softball team was swept by Kent State in a doubleheader at Nan Harvey Field on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Flashes won game one, 11-1, and won game two, 10-0.
In game one, Kent State used a three-run second and a three-run third inning to take a 7-0 lead and break the game open. Leandra Jew, Catrell Robertson and Gabby Keller each had a pair of hits to pace the Bulls. Ufuoma Ogagan scored on a passed ball in the third inning for the Bulls' lone run.
It was a game of missed opportunities for the Bulls as they tallied nine hits in the game and left the bases loaded twice.
Kent State pitcher Ronnie Ladines tossed a perfect game in game two to lead the Flashes to a 10-0 victory.
"In game one, we woke our bats up, but we didn't capitalize when we had the bases loaded twice with one out," head coach Trena Peel said. "These are the opportunities that we can't let slip away. Both those innings were momentum changers. This was the first time in a long time that our whole pitching staff had a bad outing."
Buffalo will next play a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday against Niagara at Nan Harvey Field. First pitch is at 3:00 pm.
