Bulls Fall To Idaho State; Has Second Game Halted

FT. COLLINS, CO – The University at Buffalo softball team lost their first game on Saturday 9-4 to Idaho State and trailed in their second game before it was halted due to darkness. The game will resume on Sunday.

In the first game of the day, UB got on the board first as the red-hot Leandra Jew led off with a single and she came in to score on a double steal from third base. Buffalo took a 2-0 advantage in the second as freshman Gabby Keller led off with a single down the left field line and she scored on a single to left by Jew.

Idaho State tied the game up with two runs in the bottom of the second and added four in the bottom of the third. The Bulls added one in the fourth as freshman Ufuoma Ogagan hit a leadoff single and she stole second and advanced to third on the throw. Ogagan then came in to score on another RBI hit from Jew.

Idaho State scored two in the bottom of the fourth before UB answered with one in the fifth as Essence Savinon hit an RBI groundout, scoring pinch runner Taylor Scott. Idaho State added one in the fifth.

Brieanna Baker picked up the loss as she pitched 3.0 innings and gave up eight runs, six of them earned. The Bulls had eight hits, led by a 3-for-4 performance from Jew, who added two runs batted in. Keller went 2-for-3 from the dish.

Buffalo's second game of the day was against Colorado State. The Rams held on to a 7-0 lead through four innings before the game was halted due to darkness. The plan is to conclude the game from the point of interruption on Sunday after UB plays its final full game of the weekend.

Buffalo will face Penn State on Sunday at 11:00am EST in the final scheduled game of the Colorado State Classic.
