Bulls Fall at Nevada, 38-14

RENO, NV – The University at Buffalo had difficulty slowing a high-powered Nevada offense and lost to the Wolf Pack, 38-14, at Mackay Stadium on Saturday night. The Bulls were able to effectively move the ball on the ground, rushing for a season-best 231 yards. However, Nevada gained 352 yards on the ground and controlled the line of scrimmage.

Scoring Plays
- Nevada took its opening possession and drove 72 yards on eight plays. Quarterback Tyler Stewart scrambled into the endzone for a 9-yard score. (UB 0, Nevada 7, 9:19 1Q)

- Jordan Johnson had 144 yards of total offense and scored two touchdowns. He rushed for 87 yards and added 57 yards receiving.
- Johnathan Hawkins had the most productive game of his career with 53 yards rushing on only nine carries and a team-best three receptions for 13 yards.
- Neither team turned the ball over.
- Khalil Hodge racked up a career-high 17 tackles. Ryan Williamson added 10 tackles and Ishmael Hargrove and Tim Roberts each nine.
- Joe Keels and Tatum Slack each had a tackle for loss in the game.
- Walk-on punter Kyle DeWeen had another solid game with six punts for a 42.7 yard average.
Key Stat
Buffalo rushed for a season-high 231 yards. It was the second straight games the Bulls went over 200 yards rushing – a first since the 2014 campaign.

Nevada was able to sustain long scoring drives. The Wolf Pack had five touchdown drives of 72 yards or more.
Nota-BULLS
- Jordan Johnson's first touchdown was the 14th of his career, but his first receiving touchdown.
- Tyree Jackson's 87 rushing yards were the most by a UB quarterback since Alex Zordich rushed for 110 yards at Ohio in 2012.
- Johnson (28), Hawkins (26) and Jackson (22) all had runs of over 20 yards in the game.
- Khalil Hodge's 17 tackles were the most by a UB player since Nick Gilbo had 19 against Northern Illinois last season.
- Boise Ross changed his number from 1 to 41 for the remainder of the season in honor of fallen teammate Solomon Jackson.
- Saturday's game marked the furthest west a UB team has ever played. The Bulls also played at Nevada in 2004.

On the defense
Not at all what we were expecting. I think we played on our heels quite a bit. Shockingly disappointed in that. We're better than that.
We have time to get better and we'll continue to work to get better.
On Tyree Jackson
He continues to get better. You saw what he did in the run game. I don't think he had the throwing day that he or we wanted, but we have to continue to find throws for him.

Second game of the season. We have a long way to go and we need to continue to get better. We're not far from where we need to be.

We can still accomplish every goal we've set out to accomplish even with how we've started this year.
