HAMILTON, OH – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team dropped a road contest at Miami (OH) on Friday afternoon, 5-2. The loss evens UB's record to 2-2 in the MAC and 10-6 overall.
The RedHawks took a tightly contested doubles point, which came down to the match at second doubles. After a Miami (OH) win at three, UB's duo of Tanja Stojanovska and Dayana Agasieva won at first doubles 6-4, but the RedHawks won at second doubles, 7-5.
In singles play, UB was able to come away with two wins. Stojanovska dominated at first singles with a 6-0, 6-2 win and at sixth singles freshman Sanjana Sudhir scored a 7-5, 6-2 win. Miami (OH) picked up straight set victories at two, four and five, while the match at three went into three sets.
"We lost the doubles point when we had the match on our rackets and didn't execute and that really hurt us going into singles play," said head coach Kristen Maines. "Tanja played outstanding today and I was very pleased with how she rebounded and responded to a tough loss of the doubles point."
The Bulls will return home for the final time this season when they host Ball State on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm at the Miller Tennis Center. It will serve as Senior Day for Dayana Agasieva.
