
Bulls Suffer First Loss At West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, WV – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team lost for the first time this season, dropping a tough 4-3 decision at West Virginia on Friday afternoon. The loss drops UB to 4-1 on the season.
For the first time this year UB lost the doubles point despite picking up a win at second doubles as Tanja Stojanovska and Chantal Martinez Blanco won 6-2. West Virginia picked up a win at third doubles and then the Bulls lost a close decision at first doubles, 7-5.
The Mountaineers picked up wins at three and four to begin singles play before Stojanovska got the Bulls on the board with a 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 win at first singles. West Virginia clinched the match with a win at second singles, but the Bulls continued to fight as freshman Mercedes Losada Rubio won at fifth singles in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. Fellow freshman Sanjana Sudhir won her match at sixth singles, 3-6, 6-3, 10-3.
The Bulls remain on the road tomorrow when they face Pittsburgh at 9am.
