Western Michigan Claims 5-2 Match from UB Women's Tennis Team

KALAMAZOO, MI – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York women's tennis team fell to host Western Michigan, 5-2, Sunday at the Sorensen Courts in Mid-American Conference competition.
The Broncos (13-8, 5-1 MAC), who have won five straight MAC matches, claimed the doubles point from the Bulls (6-9, 2-3 MAC) and won four of six singles matches.
WMU secured the third doubles match, 6-1, and won the second match, 6-4. Sophomore Margarita Kotok and junior Dayana Agasieva were knotted, 5-5, with 70th-ranked Caroline Aleck and Meika Ashby at first doubles upon conclusion of the other two matches.
Freshman Tanja Stojanovska improved to 11-4 in singles action this spring with a 7-6 (6), 6-1 victory against Olivia Myers at the top spot. Sophomore Laura Holterbosch also picked up a victory for the Bulls defeating Aleck, 6-4, 6-2, at fifth singles. Rookie Christine Haraldson went three with Yuriko Ono, but fell, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (4).
The Bulls return to action on Saturday with their home finale at 1 pm against Akron. It will be the final home match for senior Laura Fernandez.
