
Wrestling Falls At Northern Iowa, 37-0

CEDAR FALLS, IA - The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York wrestling team was denied their first Mid-American Conference victory on Saturday afternoon at Northern Iowa, falling by the score of 37-0. With the loss, the Bulls fall to 4-6 overall and 0-3 in MAC action while the Panthers improve to 6-3 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
With one of the youngest starting lineups in the nation, five true freshman starting, the young Bulls were not able to get anything going on Saturday afternoon against their MAC foe.
Redshirt sophomore Rrok Ndokaj continued to wrestle at a high level on Saturday as he pushed his opponent, Taylor Berger to overtime. Unfortunetly for Ndokaj, he was not able to come out on the winning side in the extra period as Berger earned a takedown to earn the three points for the Panthers. With the loss, Ndokaj regressed to 2-1 in MAC duals and 8-8 overall.
True freshman Justin Cooksey put forth one of his best efforts of the season against his talented opponent, Gunnar Wolfensperger, but he could not come through with a late takedown to extend the match. Cooksey took the 8-6 advantage into the final period but his opponent outscored him 4-0 in the final period to earn the win. With the loss, Cooksey is now 7-11 overall and 3-7 in duals.
The Bulls will return to action on Sunday afternoon as they will head to South Dakota State for a pair of duals. The Bulls will take on Dakota Wesleyan at 12:00 pm and then they will take on the host South Dakota State at 2:30 pm.
