BUFFALO, NY - University at Buffalo softball senior Heather Ryder has agreed to continue her softball career as she will be playing for the Hoofddorp Pioniers in the Netherlands. The Hoofddorp Pioniers are part of the Royal Netherlands Baseball and Softball Federation.
"I'm very excited for the opportunity to continue playing softball in The Netherlands this summer," said Ryder. "As one door closes, another one opens and I am very thankful for the chance that I have been given by the Hoofddorp Pioniers."
Ryder helped lead the Bulls to their first ever MAC East Division Championship in 2014 as she finished third on the team with 31 runs batted in and tied for third on the team with four home runs. Ryder played in all 52 games this past season, starting 48 of them.
"This season was so much more than I ever could have asked for," Ryder added. "I am very fortunate to have had the chance to play with a truly amazing group of girls and play under a great coaching staff. Coach Peel taught me so much this year about softball and about life and I owe her many, many thanks for an absolutely unforgettable year."
