
Bulls Season Comes To An End In MAC Semifinal

OXFORD, OH - The University at Buffalo women's tennis team played in its first MAC Tournament Semifinal since 2009-10 on Saturday morning, but like the 2009-10 season, the Bulls fell to Miami (OH), 4-0, at the Hepburn Tennis Courts. The loss ends UB's season with a 15-6 record, its most victories since 2006-07.
The RedHawks, who entered the tournament as the number one seed, looked strong through out as they led through out the morning. In doubles action, Miami (OH) won at three, 8-2, and then clinched the point with an 8-4 win at one.
In singles play, Miami won the first set in all six matches, but the Bulls put up strong fights at a number of singles contests. The RedHawks won matches at two and six in straight sets before clinching the match with a win at three. Matches at one, four and five went unfinished. Freshman Margarita Kotok held a 5-4 lead in the second set when her match was halted, while senior Anamaria Candanoza lost her first set in a tiebreak at five. Following the match, Candanoza was named to the All-Tournament Team.
That match was the final one in the careers of four UB seniors, Anamaria Candanoza, Miranda Podlas, Tanvi Shah and Marta Stoyanova
