
Bulls End Road Trip With 74-59 Win At Robert Morris

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA – The University at Buffalo, the State University of New York men's basketball team ended its six-game road trip on Sunday afternoon with a 74-59 win at Robert Morris. The victory improves the Bulls to 5-2 on the season as they finish the road trip with four wins in six games.
The Bulls led for nearly the entire game as the host Colonials had just one lead after scoring the first two points of the contesr. UB responded by scoring the next seven, and never trailed again. RMU trailed 11-8 in the opening half when the Bulls went on a 12-2 run over the next four minutes to take a 23-10 lead. The loudest play of the run was on an alley-oop from Jarryn Skeete to Rodell Wigginton. A layup from senior Will Regan gave the Bulls their largest lead of the first half at 27-12 with 4:40 left and the Bulls managed to take a 33-23 lead into the break.
Robert Morris opened the second half on a mini 6-3 run to pull within seven with 17:11 left, but UB went on a 13-2 run as a three-pointer from Skeete gave the Bulls a 49-31 advantage with 12:23 remaining.
The Bulls led by as many as 21 points in the game as a steal from Wigginton led to a Shannon Evans fast-break dunk, which put the Bulls up 55-34 with 9:25 left. RMU pulled back within 13 with 4:42 left, but UB went on another 9-2 run as a layup from Justin Moss put the Bulls ahead 70-50. RMU hit a couple late shots to pull within 14 with the final margin of victory being 15.
The Bulls placed four in double figures, led by Moss, who had 20 points and 11 rebounds, his third double-double of the year. Evans had a nice all-around game with 14 points, three rebounds, five assists and four steals. 12 of his 14 points came in the second half.
Regan had his second straight game in double figures with 12 points, going 5-of-9 from the field, including a perfect 2-of-2 from three-point range. Skeete added 11 points, six rebounds and five assists, hitting three 3-pointers in the game.
Freshman Lamonte Bearden added eight points, while Wigginton had seven points and five rebounds off the bench.
The Bulls outrebounded Robert Morris, 34-29, in the game. UB allowed just four offensive rebounds, the first coming with nine minutes remaining the game. The four offensive boards allowed are the fewest by the Bulls since Akron had just four on Feb. 26, 2011. The 29 boards are also the fewest by a UB opponent this season.
The Bulls also forced Robert Morris into 24 turnovers, the most by an opponent this year, and UB had 10 steals, led by the four from Evans. UB had an advantage in nearly every specialty stat, outscoring RMU 30-18 in the paint, 28-15 in points of turnover, and also had slim advantages in second chance points and fast-break points.
Robert Morris fell to 2-6 on the year, but had four players in double figures, led by 18 points from Marcquise Reed. Elijah Minnie finished with a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Having played six of their first seven games away from home, the Bulls will now open up a two-game home stand beginning on Dec. 16 vs. Drexel. Prior to that, the Bulls will take a week off from games for final exams.
