
Malone Earns Big 4 Player of the Week Nod

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York women's basketball team's Alexus Malone has been Named Big 4 Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Malone, who also garnered the inaugural honor on November 24, averaged close to a double-double putting up 12.7 points and 9.7 rebounds in a 2-1 week for the Bulls. The sophomore added seven assists, six steals and five blocks, while shooting 53.8 percent from the field. Malone recorded a double-double in a 51-44 victory over Big 4 foe St. Bonaventure on Monday, scoring a Bull-best 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. During a 68-58 win at Manhattan Friday, Malone added another tallying 13 points and pulling down a game-best 11 rebounds. She chipped in 10 points and eight boards in a six-point loss at LIU Brooklyn Sunday.
Beginning this season, the Big 4 schools – UB, Canisius, Niagara and St. Bonaventure – will name one student-athlete each week as men's and women's basketball players of the week. At the conclusion of the 2014-15 season, All-Big 4 teams will be selected.
Looking for a clean sweep of Big 4 opponents, UB will close out non-conference play on Monday, Dec. 29 when they travel to Canisius for a 7 pm game.
