BUFFALO, NY - Head women's basketball coach Felisha Legette-Jack has been recognized by the Girl Scouts of Western New York as a "Woman of Distinction." As one of nine women honored at the event, to be held Sept. 19, Legette-Jack will be the honoree representing the Sports and Fitness field.
Presented annually, the award is presented annually to a select group of women in different fields throughout the region to acknowledge strength in character, dedication to community service, and commitment to mentoring and encouraging girls and young women.
Since her arrival at UB, Jack has been active in the community through volunteer work and providing an opportunity to girls in the area to chase their dreams both on and off the fields of athletic competition.
"The Western New York region has a wealth of talented business and community-oriented female leaders and we would like to recognize their contributions," said Cindy Odom, Chief Executive Officer for the Girl Scouts of Western New York said in a release by the organization. "A girl's future career choices are more influenced by inspiring role models and this event exposes girls to women who have accomplished extraordinary success in their lives."
