
Five Bulls Compete At USA Outdoor Track and Field Junior Nationals

DES MOINES, IA - Buffalo sent five track and field athletes to the USA Outdoor Track and Field Junior National Championships this past weekend, held at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, IA. The Bulls received several good performances capped off by a couple of athletes advancing to the finals in their respective events.
Tyler Scheving competed in the 800m where he finished seventh in the finals, running 1:52.11. Scheving reached the finals after running 1:51.98 in the preliminary round on Thursday afternoon. Also reaching the finals on Thursday afternoon was Ryan Billian, who finished in seventh place in the 110H in a time of 14.34. He qualified earlier in the day on Thursday with a 14.25 in the preliminary round. Completing the events on the track was Kaitlin McCadden, who finished 15th in the 3,000m at a time of 11:28.25.
In the field events, Austin Ashby competed in the long jump, where he finished in eighth place following a jump of 6.73m (22-1), which he recorded on his third jump. Ashby was the final competitor to reach the finals.
On Saturday afternoon, Taylor Woods competed in the discus throw where she finished 13th of 17 competitors. She threw 44.77m (146-10) on the last of her three throws.
"Overall this weekend provided some great exposure for our for our program and for these student athletes," said women's track and field head coach Vicki Mitchell. "Our athletes competed against some of the best in the country and they became better at this meet."
