5/31/2013 12:00:00 AM | Track and Field
BUFFALO, NY - Sophomore Austin Price was named to the Capital One Academic All-District men's Track and Field/Cross Country team on Friday morning as one of 10 athletes on the District 1 First Team. This is the second straight academic honor for Price this week as he was named to the Academic All-MAC team on Thursday.
A sophomore biomedical science major with a 3.47 grade point average, Price won the men's triple jump for UB's fifth league title in the event since the Bulls joined the league in 1999. As the current UB school record holder in the event, he cleared 49-9.75 (15.18m) to win the event by nearly two feet and made the All-MAC first team for his efforts. This follows up an All-Academic honor for Price for the indoor season.
All first team selections advance to the national Capital One Academic All-America® men's track and field/cross country and women's track and field/cross country ballots.
The Academic All-District® teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada. This is the second year of the expanded Academic All-America® program as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored.
