
Bulls Win Four Events at Toledo Collegiate Challenge

TOLEDO, OH – The University at Buffalo men's and women's track and field teams won a combined four events as the Toledo Collegiate Challenge concluded on Saturday evening.
Brooklynn Ventura earned a first-place finish for the UB women with her victory in the 100-meter hurdles. Ventura won in 13.67 seconds, finishing nearly three-quarters of a second ahead of the next finisher. Ventura also had a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash in 24.95 while Camaria Long placed third in 24.99.
Ryan Billian took the men's 110-meter hurdles title. He won in 14.30 seconds with Jacob Wray finishing third in 14.64 seconds.
UB's men's jumpers also won a pair of events on Saturday. Chris Reape claimed the men's high jump with a top mark of 6-6.75 (2.00m). Doug Hannon won the men's triple jump at 47-2.25 (14.38m).
Evan Palmer had a second- and a third-place finish in his events. Palmer took the second spot in the men's discus with a toss of 170-3 (51.89m). He also finished third in the hammer at 191-9 (58.45m). Also in the field, Craig Howard and Kevin Enck placed second and third, respectively, in the men's javelin. Howard threw 140-5 (42.79m) while Enck threw 138-9 (42.29m). Don McCann was third in the men's long jump at 22-5.25 (6.84m).
On the track, Mike Pressler took second in the men's 5,000-meters in 14:45.71 while Will Cole was third in the men's 400-meter hurdles in 53.63.
For the UB women, Shante' White was second in the hammer throw at 184-5 (56.22m) and third in the discus at 149-0 (45.41m). Rachel Roberts was second in the women's shot put at 49-11.75 (15.23m). Erin Miller took third place in the hammer at 182-3 (55.55m). Danielle Anderson tied for third in the women's high jump at 5-1 (1.55m).
Donna Jeanty placed second in the women's 400-meter hurdles in 1:03.76 and Aimee Hopkins was third in the 800-meters in 2:16.97.
Both of UB's women's relay squads also took home second-place showings. The 4x100-meter relay squad of Jamiee McClary, Long, Ventura and Crystal Graham finished second in 46.39 seconds. The 4x400-meter relay team of Long, Jeanty, Regine Lazard and Gina Carnavale were second in 3:52.00.
UB's men finished second in the 11-team meet with 112.5 points as Findlay won the team title with 133 points. The UB women were third of 14 with 128.5 trailing Ohio State (131) and Toledo (130.5). Complete team scores are listed below.
The Bulls will compete on two fronts next weekend. UB's top athletes will travel to the Florida Relays in Gainesville while the remainder of the squads will compete at the Rochester Invitational.
