BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo softball team had tough afternoon at the plate on Saturday afternoon as they managed just three hits in a 7-0 loss to Central Michigan at Nan Harvey Field. The loss drops the Bulls to 0-3 in the MAC.
Buffalo starter Tori Speckman pitched the complete game, throwing nearly 140 pitches, but allowed 11 hits and seven runs. The Chippewas scored single runs in each the second, third and fourth innings and put up two-run innings in the fifth and seventh.
UB had maybe its best opportunity to score in the first inning and freshman Karly Nevez reached on a one-out single, but was left stranded at second base. The Bulls also got a runner to second in the third and got its only runner to third in the fourth inning following a lead off single from freshman Alexis Curtiss. UB also stranded a runner in the seventh.
Nevez, Curtiss and sophomore Tori Pettine picked up the hits for the Bulls, who did not strike out once all afternoon, but the CMU defense limited the team to just three hits.
The Bulls and Chippewas are back in action tomorrow for a 1:00 pm start at Nan Harvey Field.
