BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo football schedule will feature a Homecoming matchup with Pittsburgh, six games at UB Stadium, including an ESPNU televised game, and visits to both Georgia and Connecticut.
The schedule includes two home games in each month (September, October and November) and will see the Bulls at UB Stadium for two of their first three contests after the season-opener at SEC power Georgia. The Bulls will host Kent State on either Wednesday or Thursday, Sept. 19 or 20 on ESPNU and the season finale at Bowling Green will either be an ESPNU or ESPN3 broadcast. All six games scheduled for UB Stadium are expected to be televised with further details coming this summer.
The Bulls will have home games against Morgan State (9/8), Kent State (9/19 or 20), Pittsburgh (10/20), Toledo (10/27), Miami, OH (11/3) and Western Michigan (11/10) in a four-week stretch in late October through early November. The schedule features three crossover games against West Division opponents (Toledo, Western Michigan and Northern Illinois) and Buffalo will face the returning East (Ohio) and West (Northern Illinois) Division champions from last year.
The league had to revamp its schedule with 13 conference members after Temple left to join the Big East. Buffalo will not play East Division member Akron because of the imbalance. The MAC East will feature Akron, Buffalo, Bowling Green, Kent State, Ohio, Massachusetts and Miami, while the West includes Ball State, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois, Toledo and Western Michigan.
The Bulls will travel in 2012 to Georgia, Connecticut (9/29), Ohio (10/6), Northern Illinois (10/13), MAC newcomer Massachusetts (11/17) and Bowling Green (11/23), the day after Thanksgiving. No game times have been set at this point.
"It's a challenging schedule there is no question about that," said head coach Jeff Quinn, "but if you want to be the best you have to face, and eventually, beat the best. We look forward to the continued support of our students, staff, alumni and Western New York community to get behind what I know will be a talented and competitive football team representing our University."
