BUFFALO, NY - Redshirt junior Nytor Longar was named to the Preseason All-Big Four First Team on Thursday morning at the Big Four Basketball Media Day, held at Pearl Street Grill and Brewery in downtown Buffalo. The teams were voted on by local media and the athletic communications offices from each of the four local schools.
Longar returned with force last year after missing her sophomore season due to injury as she was nearly unstoppable down in the paint. She averaged 10.2 points per game, second best on the team, and a team-high 6.4 rebounds per game. Longar had five double-doubles on the year, including three in three meetings against the Akron Zips. Longar had a career-high 26 points against Akron back on January 11, 2012 and followed that up with 23 points in UB's first-round MAC Tournament loss at Akron. With her success from last season moving into this year, Longar is expected to be one of the top post players in the Mid-American Conference.
Longar was joined on the first team by Lauren Gatto and Kayla Stroman from Niagara, Doris Ortega from St. Bonaventure and Jamie Ruttle from Canisius.
