WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team was unable to pull off the upset against nationally-ranked Akron, falling 7-0 at the Miller Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Zips claimed all three doubles matches, including a tight contest at second doubles where Angelika Jogasuria and Prang Pantusart defeated Shelby Bates and Marta Stoyanova, 9-7. The Zips took the momentum from doubles and had little trouble in singles play.
Akron swept through the singles matches, winning all six in straight sets. UB had its best chance at six singles where Tamara Markovic went into a second-set tiebreaker with Natasha Kuvakina, but was unable to prevail.
The Bulls hit the road next weekend as they head to Toledo on Friday and Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
